Hello,
I'm in the process of creating a new development BW 7.00 system (Windows/SQL Server platform) using a copy of our BW QA system. I've completed the system copy using the SWPM tool and I'm about to start the post-copy BW configuration - i.e. BDLS and source system setup etc.
I have a bit of a dilemma, though, in that the source BW QA system the BW functionality (RSA1 etc) is active in client 300. Ideally, I would like to be able to use client 200 for BW functionality in the new development system. This means I'll have to do a local client copy from 300 to 200.
Is changing the BW client in a system supported by SAP? SAP note 886102 copy scenario B4 states that copied BW clients cannot be used for BW functionality but isn't clear on why this is and I haven't found any other guidance elsewhere. Some older SAP notes discuss BW client copy topics but for older versions. Is it a case that if you do a system copy of a BW system, you have to stick with the same client number that is in the source?
Has anybody else done a BW 7.00 system copy followed by a local client copy to change client for BW functionality?
As a last resort I could just stick with client 300 in the new development system and follow the copy scenario B2. Both new Dev and QA have different SIDs so that isn't a problem.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
