NWA acquires 47.29% shares of Configtool

I would like to share few small tips, not a new discovery but not widely used!

I think these new features introduced in NWA approximately at the time of NW7.3 or little earlier.

There are certain activities which we are accustomed to do with help of configtool, like memory parameter change. The issue mainly we face here is to

get the OS access
set the display (I am not going to discuss here about display issues)
and sometime we do not have proper display tools to get the work done(like hummingbird etc)
and most important -- feeling lazy to start configtool

Still there are situation where there is no option except using configtool, like if Java is down OR might have noticed when configtool does not give option to change certain values for example for SAP* activation or UME modification - com.sap.security.core.ume.service. Every where the gurus have told :

1) Under Global Server Configuration, choose Services. 2) Find com.sap.security.core.ume.service, click it. 3) Under Global Properties, find ume.superadmin.activated

Gone are the days! Now as you see below its disabled to change even in global.

In order to do that we need to click on switch to Configuration Editor Mode

cluster_config -> system -> custom_global -> cfg -> services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.service -> Propertysheet properties

You need to scroll to the bottom to find com.sap.security.core.ume.service, don't look alphabetically

Double click on Propertysheet properties.

Once done it will not ask you to save again, so being careful is always advisable!

Lets use NWA for some of the purposes for them usually we goto configtool.

I am going to show you the comparison of NWA and Configtool to accomplice the memory and other parameter setting changes.

In this version of configtool we know that parameters are distributed among 4 tabs.

Servers, VM Environment, VM Parameters (which again has 3 tabs) and Instance Profile

That being said, lets goto system information page and find these 3 new links. You need to click on each instance to view them

You will get this page and you can find different tabs for

Kernel, services, Application, VM Environment, VM Memory Parameters, VM System Parameters, VM Additional Parameters

If you will select any node and modify the desired value you want; it will make change only to that instance/node.

After changing the value, if you will hit the save button, it will prompt you to restart the instance.

(I have tried to restart the instance from here and it successfully restarted the application and brought it back, so even for restart you don't have to go to OS level)
