SSO in SAP Portals for Windows Network Users

Hello World,

its one of those days again, that make me question my choice of profession as an SAP Basis Admin :-O

Once all our ERP/APO system upgrades were done, the boss came along and said, "oops, you got nothing to do? Then implement me SSO on (all) our SAP portals on the fly - you should be done by Monday ...."

Thanks, really - and I was worried about a boring weekend :-(

Those Portal systems are NW7.3/4 based and are running on Linux/64bit.

And naturally, there is next to no documentation about them (our old systems admin decided to quit on a jiffy) and last time I did this thing, I still knew where everything was.

But now I can't find a thing, even SAP's own docu on the matter is just unworkable.

First I found this link:

http://www.sapbasisforbeginner.com/2013/09/how-to-configure-single-sign-on-sso.html

Its nice, only our portal doesn't have a Visual Admin tool installed, and every other one I copied over complains that "kernel is older than Admin tool", then gets stuck.

Also, I don't want to configure Portal->SAP Server SSO (that already works), but Windows User -> SAP Portal SSO.

Meaning, Windows user logs into the network, then is able to call up Portal website w/o needing to log-on again.

Then I tried this link:

http://how2-sapbasis.blogspot.de/2012/10/how-to-configure-sap-netweaver-single.html

For everyone out there writing docus - thanks for the effort(!), but its truly frustrating when you folks mention some important parts on-the-fly (like here the Secure Login Server), yet then "forget" to clarify where that stuff comes from/where to find it.

I searched on the SWDC for hours and couldn't locate the damn thing - please just mention the right keyword to search for.

A URL wouldn't be any good, because SAP (those !@#$!) changes them every 3-4 months anyway.

Therefore, a URL path might last a couple of weeks, at most.

That even happened to me in this case with an original SAP Help Library Docu, that told me exactly where to find the SLS by URL path.

Only once I got to the the page, the final download link was nowhere to be found :-(

So I couldn't locate the SLS, and correspondingly the URL http://<portal>:50000/securelogin isn't working,

Last I tried this approach:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFuZp27TbWQ

But its for WAS Java+ABAP Stack, not for SAP Netweaver Portal.

Folks, I am lost here.

Normally I don't like to ask for "step-by-step" instructions, but here I make an exception for my weekend's sake.

It has been 5 years since I did this last, and it seems an awful lot has changed/moved since then.

If anybody can help me, to get SSO for SAP Portals working - authenticate user via Windows/Kerberos only for the Portal - then I'd say thanks a lot in advance.

Regards
