For applying SP's to the Landscape which tool is best option ?

For applying SP's to the Landscape which tool is the best option ?

I know that there are two tools:

1. SUM

2. SPAM

1.)SUM: SUM is the latest tool from SAP. It builds a shadow instance and do all the work in background and finally copies that instance to the present instance. So that it reduces the downtime of the system.

I have a doubt here, when the SUM is running can the users be logged in and do there daily routine ?

If the answer is yes, then I think SUM is the best option for applying SP's.
